I know you’ve all been waiting for this recipe. We shared our Amish Friendship Bread Starter recipe yesterday. If you haven’t gotten that sweet sourdough starter mixed up and fermenting on your countertop, what are you waiting for?

One look at this cinnamon Amish friendship bread and you’ll be anxiously awaiting that 10-day sourdough cycle to be complete so you can get baking.

This is a classic bread.

It’s soft and moist. It’s full of cinnamon sugar flavor. It’s a one-bowl, no-rise, couldn’t-be-easier quick bread.

And if you’re not into baking quick bread, try baking the friendship bread batter in a muffin tin. You’ll prepare the pans the same way, but you’ll preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake them for 5 minutes, then reduce the baking temperature to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 13 minutes. It’s a little trick I learned from Sally’s Baking Addiction in order to get the pretty domed tops that everyone loves on a muffin.

And another option? Bake the batter in a 9×13 cake pan to have an Amish friendship cake. The options are endless with this easy bread recipe!

Been making this bread from a starter I was given 30 years ago and it was over 20 years old then. I have followed the exact same recipe for all those 30 years the only thing I do is when putting mixture in bread pans I put half in each pan then sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top swirl with knife and put the rest of batter on top and sprinkle again with balance. Works out great but you need to follow instructions. Best bread ever and any one who has had it asks for a starter.

I was so excited to try this recipe after baking it with my mom when I was young. Unfortunately, my daughters and I follow the recipe, we think correctly. The bread turned out with a gummy texture and boiled over like crazy in the oven. Should we have only filled a loaf pans halfway? If we had done that would’ve easily made two loaves per batch of starter. Very confuse something went horribly . We ended up baking on day 11. Was that the issue? I want to try again but it’s a lot of work. any ideas?

1 cup of oil? That can’t be right. I followed the directions. But it was so runny after baking for 1 1/2 hrs.

Hi Day 3 here, greeting from Grants Pass or, I was giving a loaf about 13+ years ago and loved it, a whole bunch of us kept it going, so I looked it up and found your recipe and I believe is the same, since we’re all staying home I felt inspired to start this going. Thank you

Finally day 10! My bread turned out Ah-amazing!
I was a little worried at first because with the pudding the dough felt more like pulling taffy! But, in the end… it baked up beautifully and tastes divine!
What a great project this was with my daughter while we are stuck at home!
