How to Make Agua Fresca
The first step to making Watermelon Agua Fresca is to soak the chia seeds. Soak the seeds in about 2 tablespoons of water for around 5 minutes or so. This will soften the seeds and help them mix in your drink better.
Place the remaining ingredients in a blender and pulse away. Need a blender? This is the blender we have and LOVE.
Add in the chia seeds and you’re ready to drink!
**Pro Tip: Depending on how juicy your watermelon is, you may not need to add in any extra water. It really just depends on how thin you’d like your agua fresca to be. Add the water slowly until it is the thickness you’d like.**
Is agua fresca healthy?
Yes! Agua fresca is a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth without going overboard.
Our agua fresca has chia seeds which does add calories but also adds fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and iron. They are good for you!
This recipe does call for 2 tablespoons of sugar. You can use monk fruit sweetener or your favorite zero calorie sweetener. You can also use honey…or simply leave out the extra sweetness.
Does agua fresca have caffeine?
No! Agua fresca is caffeine free, which means it is perfect for sipping on your back porch as you watch the sun go down.
Does agua fresca have alcohol?
No! Our agua fresca recipe is alcohol free. It’s the ideal family friendly drink for all summer picnics.
