6. We use Service Providers

We use third party service providers for a variety of reasons such as listed below

  • Comment spam filtering. This Site uses Akismet, an anti-spam service provided by Automattic Inc., to protect against comment spam. When you submit a comment, information you provide such as (name, email address, website URL, and comment content), along with your IP address and browser user agent, is sent to Akismet’s servers for spam analysis. Akismet may use artificial intelligence to prevent spam on our Site. Akismet may retain this information as described in its privacy notice, available at https://akismet.com/privacy/.
  • Advertising. The Site may display advertising and use different advertisers which allows us to provide some of our content free of charge.

CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) is a service provider of this Site for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about Raptive’s data usage, click here: https://raptive.com/creator-advertising-privacy-statement

As described in Raptive’s Advertising Privacy Statement, Raptive, Google, and their advertising partners collect data — including but not limited to your IP address, approximate geolocation, browser type, device information, operating system, and browsing behavior on this and other sites (via cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies, and in some cases browser fingerprinting). Raptive may share data with technology partners including but not limited to Neustar Information Services (Fabrick), ID5, and Verizon, each of which offers its own opt-out described in Raptive’s statement. To fully understand how Raptive uses your data and information, you must read their privacy statement as amended from time to time.

  • Site Search. We also use Slickstream, a Raptive product, to power search, “saved favorites,” and content-recommendation features on the Site. If you use the favorites feature, you may voluntarily provide your email address so your saved recipes can be synced across devices. Slickstream also automatically collects usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, time on site, referring URLs, cookies, and web beacons to operate and improve these features. Slickstream’s data practices are governed by Raptive’s privacy statement, available at https://www.slickstream.com/privacy.

We typically send 4-5 emails per week, which may include promotions for products.
  • Newsletter sponsorships. We may engage others to serve advertisements in our newsletters and perform related services. You can learn more about interest-based ads, or opt out of having your web browsing information used for behavioral advertising by companies participating in the Digital Advertising Alliance, at www.aboutads.info/choices.
