I know you’ve all been waiting for this recipe. We shared our Amish Friendship Bread Starter recipe yesterday. If you haven’t gotten that sweet sourdough starter mixed up and fermenting on your countertop, what are you waiting for?

One look at this cinnamon Amish friendship bread and you’ll be anxiously awaiting that 10-day sourdough cycle to be complete so you can get baking.

This is a classic bread.

It’s soft and moist. It’s full of cinnamon sugar flavor. It’s a one-bowl, no-rise, couldn’t-be-easier quick bread.

And if you’re not into baking quick bread, try baking the friendship bread batter in a muffin tin. You’ll prepare the pans the same way, but you’ll preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake them for 5 minutes, then reduce the baking temperature to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 13 minutes. It’s a little trick I learned from Sally’s Baking Addiction in order to get the pretty domed tops that everyone loves on a muffin.

And another option? Bake the batter in a 9×13 cake pan to have an Amish friendship cake. The options are endless with this easy bread recipe!

Glad I found this again. Used too make it 10 years ago. Always brought to my friends/family Christmas parties, and of course for us. Used all flavors of pudding. Bread freezes well.
Question: Can I use canned pumpkin instead of pudding?

should the dough be thick when you pour into the pan? Mine was, couldn’t pour it.

I made this as a child. We always had the starter, and never had to make. My question is, once my 10 days is up and I divide into 4-1 cup bags, I am supposed to use one of those to bake my bread?

do you have to use the pudding?

Just followed your Amish Friendship Starter recipe and today was day 10!! Made the bread for my family and we were absolutely in love!! The bread is so moist, it just melts in your mouth. We are all so pleased, thank you so much for your delicious recipe. I will be making 2 more loaves to share with my parents. Quick question, can I freeze the loaves after I bake them? I am seeing them in a couple weeks. Thank you in advance ♥️

Love this bread, did this for awhile 30 years ago so I don’t recall why the 1c portion I kept for myself isn’t producing the gas that needs to be let out. Is it ruined or do I just go ahead and add to it?

Has anyone made this using Lactaid milk, not the soy or almond but the real milk without lactose? I want to make this but my daughter is very lactose intolerant.

While doing the starter do you release the air from the yeast, or keep it sealed for the whole 10 days?

Can the all purpose flour be replaced with bread flour?
If not, should the all purpose be unbleached?

Overall, the bread came out okay, but the sugar/cinnamon coating on the bottom was very sticky and almost tasted burnt. I’m thinking it could be 1 of 2 reasons, and hoping to get others’ input. I think it’s either 1. ) I baked it for an extra 5 minutes to ensure the toothpick came out clean. Perhaps it’s okay to have a few moist crumbs? 2.) I let it cool on top of the stove which, of course, was still hot. DUH. Thanks!
