    Favorite Dessert Recipes

If there is one thing that we are known for, it's our cakes and cookies. If you love bakery style cookies and from-scratch cakes.

Dessert recipes are the foundation of Tastes of Lizzy T.

Our family has been baking together, even if it was just a boxed brownie mix, for over 30 years. There's something about mixing up a cake together, licking our fingers as we go, that brings smiles and eases worries.

    Why is it called dessert?

We all know dessert to be something sweet that is served at the end of a meal. But why is it called dessert? According to Culinary Lore, the word "dessert" comes from a latin word "desservir" which means "to remove what has been served". Dessert is what is served after the rest of the meal has been cleared away.

**Tip: How do you spell dessert? Remember...dessert has two of the letter 's'. Think of "sweet stuff". The dry arid place called "desert" only has a 's'. **

What are the different types of desserts?

Desserts can be anything from homemade pies and from scratch cakes to easy cookies or fluffy dessert dips. There are cheesecake recipes, oatmeal bars, blondies and fancier desserts such as galettes. The types of desserts are innumerable!

    Why is dessert served last?

Why does it seem like we always have room for dessert? Sweet desserts actually trick our mind into thinking we are hungry again. We tire of the savory flavor of the main dish, but get revived when we taste something fresh and sweet. (source)

What is the best dessert to eat?

The best desserts can vary depending on who is eating it. Many like chocolate dessert recipes, but others prefer something fruity. Some want light and fluffy desserts while prefer rich and decadent desserts.
