Ingredients for Pork Chops and Rice

Here’s what you’ll need for crock pot pork chops and rice:

ingredients for pork chops and rice on a table
  • Pork Chops. I prefer thinner pork chops for this meal since it can be ready in about 4 hours, but thick pork chops or even bone-in pork chops will work as well.
  • Onion Soup Mix. This little packet of seasonings is a powerhouse when it comes to adding quick flavor.
  • Garlic, parsley, ground mustard and black pepper. These seasonings work well with the onion soup mix to deepen the flavor.
  • Chicken stock, cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soups. This combination creates a creamy gravy and leads to juicy pork chops.
  • Butter. My secret ingredient in recipes is often butter, just like in my chicken fried rice and raspberry sauce. Just a little pad of butter adds richness and flavor to so many dishes.
  • Rice. Long-grain rice is best, but brown rice works as well. If you only have minute rice, add it in and let it cook for about 10 minutes.

shopping tip

If you’re looking to save money at the grocery store, buy a pork tenderloin or pork loin and slice it in to chops at home. Pork loin is one of the leanest cuts of pork, as lean as chicken breasts! And it is delicious in this easy recipe.

Recipe Variations

  • Try Different Soups. While cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soups are the classic choices for this crock pot pork chops and rice recipe, don’t hesitate to experiment with other cream soups for different flavor profiles. Cream of celery soup or cream of onion can add a unique twist to your dish. Or make cream of chicken soup at home.
  • Add Some Veggies. For a one-pot meal that includes your veggies, consider adding sliced mushrooms, diced carrots, or peas about an hour before the dish is done. They’ll cook in the sauce, absorbing all the delicious flavors and adding nutritional value to your meal.
  • Swap the Rice. If you’re not a fan of white rice or simply want to try something new, substitute it with wild rice, brown rice, or even quinoa. Keep in mind that cooking times can vary, so adjust accordingly.
  • Serving Suggestions Beyond Rice. Feel free to serve the pork chops over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or even a bed of cauliflower rice for a low-carb option. Each base offers a different texture and flavor that complements the creamy sauce and tender pork.

Notes

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. It’s a great recipe for leftovers!
  • This recipe does not yield fluffy rice. It’s a creamy rice texture. If you cook it too long, you may end up with mushy rice, so watch it closely and be ready to serve it 30-60 minutes after adding the rice to the slow cooker.
