About this Sunrise Mocktail Recipe:

  • Flavor: This is a smooth, cool drink with a bright, citrus flavor. You’ll taste orange and peach juice with a hint of ginger ale. And the color is gorgeous, too!
  • Method: This is a quick drink that can mix by the cup. Mix right before serving so the colorful layers are present for serving.

What is a sunrise mocktail?

There is a cocktail called a tequila sunrise. This is the non-alcoholic, family friendly version of that drink. Tequila sunrise mocktails! You still get the beautiful layers in a drink even the kids can enjoy.

Ingredients Needed

You’ll need 4 ingredients:

  • peach juice
  • orange juice
  • ginger ale
  • grenadine syrup

Peach juice may be hard to find, but our stores sell a brand in the refrigerated juice section called Simply Peach All Natural Juice.

What is grenadine syrup?

Grenadine syrup is a popular addition to many cocktails and mocktails, known by its deep red color. It was originally made from pomegranates, whose french name is grenade, which is how the syrup got its name. Today many grenadine syrups are made with artificial flavors, but you can buy or make a homemade grenadine with pomegranate juice.

Because this drink has maraschino cherries in it, you may think that grenadine syrup is made from cherries, but it is not. I buy Rose’s grenadine syrup on Amazon.

How to Make a Sunrise Mocktail

  • Place 3-4 ice cubes in the bottom of the glass (about 10 ounce glass).
  • In a measuring cup, whisk together the peach and orange juice.
  • Pour the juice mixture into the glass with the cups.
  • Slowly pour the ginger ale over the peach juice.
  • Then slowly pour the grenadine syrup on top. The grenadine syrup should sink to the bottom of the cup, coloring it a reddish-orange color. Do not stir!
  • Garnish the cup with a orange slices or lime wedge and serve immediately.

Recipe Variations

  • Use Sprite or 7UP instead of ginger ale soda.
  • If you can’t find peach juice, use pineapple juice or lemonade.
  • Add a tablespoon or two of orange juice.
