Breakfast was never easier or more family friendly than with this Hawaiian Roll French Toast Casserole. It’s delicious with a drizzle of maple syrup and fresh blueberries.
This recipe is based off my french toast casserole with French bread, but instead uses soft, fluffy Hawaiian rolls to keep the prep quick and easy. A sugar streusel bakes on top of the egg custard to give it a little crunch and a touch of sweet.

From my kitchen to yours.
As much as I love homemade bread and make dinner rolls for almost every family gathering, my kids love Kings Hawaiian Rolls.
I get it. They’re so good with a slather of butter. But they also make the perfect pillowy soft base for pulled pork sliders, pizza sliders, brunch sliders and even cinnamon roll sliders. And I often grab them for this Hawaiian Roll French Toast Casserole recipe, too!
Our recipe makes the best french toast casserole because it has a buttery sugar crumb topping that bakes into the top. It’s the same topping that goes on my blueberry crumb muffins and strawberry shortcake. And it makes this lazy weekend morning casserole extra special too.

Key Ingredients
This recipe calls for simple ingredients:
- Milk. Any type of milk (even non dairy) will work. I prefer a mix of heavy cream and 2%, since we keep both of those on hand. Whole milk, almond milk or coconut milk works as well.
- King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. If you can find day-old rolls or have leftover Hawaiian rolls, use those up in this recipe. The package size should be 12 ounces.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and amounts.
