I Made Reese’s Stuffed Brownies and They Vanished in Minutes

Full-sized Reese’s cups are stuffed inside chewy, fudgy brownies. Top the Reese’s Stuffed Brownies with creamy peanut butter frosting for the ultimate loaded brownie.
This brownie recipe uses a box brownie mix, but instead of adding traditional brownie ingredients, I add cream cheese, one egg, and butter. These ingredients help the brownies stay moist and chewy for days. It’s the same method I use with our buckeye brownie cookies and cookie dough brownie cookies. They’ll disappear quickly!

About these Reese’s Stuffed Brownies:
My obsession with peanut butter and chocolate flavor is no secret. From Reese’s Pieces brownies, chocolate peanut butter pancakes, gooey bars and whole grain cupcakes to chocolate peanut butter braided bread, we’ve been serving up all things Reese’s inspired since we started Tastes of Lizzy T.
There is about the same ratio of frosting as there is brownie in this Reese’s stuffed brownie recipe. I’m usually a center of the brownie girl, but with these? I’ll take any bite I can.
I’ve taken these Reese’s stuffed brownies to many picnics and parties over the years, and they always vanish quickly. And if you serve them with ice cream? Even better!
Enjoy! -Julie

Ingredients
- 1 Pillsbury family size brownie mix 19.5 ounces
- 1 large egg
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup salted butter softened
- 16 full-size Reese’s peanut butter cups frozen
Frosting:
- 1/2 cup salted butter softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons 2% milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line an 8×8" baking pan with parchment paper, or spray with cooking spray.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer or with an electric mixer, combine the brownie mix, egg, cream cheese and butter until it is well mixed. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl as needed. The batter will be very thick. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly in the prepared pan. 1 Pillsbury family size brownie mix, 1 large egg, 4 ounces cream cheese, ¼ cup salted butter
- Take the frozen Reese's peanut butter cups and press them into the top of the batter in a 4×4 grid pattern. They should be pressed in enough that the top of the Reese's cup is at the same height as the brownie batter. Bake for about 28 minutes. 16 full-size Reese’s peanut butter cups
- While the brownies are baking, make the peanut butter frosting. Using a stand mixer, blend together peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar and milk for 2-3 minutes or until light and fluffy. ½ cup salted butter, 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 3 tablespoons 2% milk, 2 cups powdered sugar
- Once the brownies are cool, spread the frosting on top of the brownies.
- Place 2 ounces of chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Heat the chocolate in 15 second intervals. Stir in between each interval until the chocolate is completely melted. Do this slowly so the chocolate doesn't burn. Drizzle the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter frosting and allow the brownies to set. 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you make the brownie mix as directed on the box then add everything else?
No. Just use the dry brownie mix and add what our recipe tells you to.
I only have a glass cake pan (9×13″). Would that work?
I would recommend doubling the Reese’s stuffed brownies recipe for a 9×13″ pan. If you don’t want to double, you could bake them in a round cake pan or pie plate if you have one.
Do you think a gluten free brownies mix would work?
Yes, I recommend King Arthur gluten-free brownie mix.
I have leftover peanut butter cups. What else could I make?
Reese’s sweet rolls, Reese’s truffles, Reese’s pie, and Reese’s peanut butter cookies are my recommendations!
I made these absolutely delicious creations, but unfortunately did not pay attention to the pictures to see the brownie layer underneath the Reese’s….needless to say my Reese’s are now stuck to the pan! Do you recommend any way i could get the brownies out of my pan without destroying these amazing brownies?? My pan is an aluminum 13 X 8 cake pan..
PS….
I plan on using this Peanut Butter cream on every dessert i make now…THANK YOU
Unfortunately we found these way, way too rich- the brownies came out with the sweetness and texture of fudge which was overpowering with the Reese’s, frosting, and melted chocolate. . I may try it again making the brownies by the box recipe… Definitely saving the frosting though because that on it’s own was delicious.
Is there any substitute recommended if I don’t have candiquik or do I need to go buy it specifically? Thanks.
Making these now!! But…do the cream cheese and butter take place of the oil required for the brownie mix? I’m using my favorite ghirardelli brand.
I just found your blog and I’m already in love! In fact, I spent all of my exercise time browsing through it! These look delish!
Do these need to be refrigerated?
